Two decades in the grow room
I'm Omid Arrekhy — known to many as Makhtoom Gholi. For more than 20 years I have been growing mushrooms and producing compost, with one core specialty: finding what is going wrong in a growing room or compost facility, and fixing it with the simplest possible solution — using the resources already at hand.
My work covers the full production cycle: compost and substrate preparation and pasteurisation, spawn running, casing, pinning, climate strategy, contamination control, harvest planning and yield optimisation. I also help investors and growers establish new facilities — room design, equipment selection, airflow, and the operating routines that make a farm profitable rather than merely functional — in traditional farms and advanced industrial plants alike.
For eight years I established and managed mushroom and compost production plants in Turkmenistan, and my consulting in Iran continues across multiple farms — with shorter assignments at the Sun Gold plant in Pakistan (six months) and in Erbil, Iraq (two months).
